Arm Numbness and Heart Disease |
Heart disease is the number one cause of death for both men and women in America. Because of this, it is important to understand the different facets of heart disease including the symptoms. There are many different types of heart disease to be aware of. Heart disease is not just one health problem, but a broad term to cover many different diseases and illnesses having to do with the heart. It's a good idea for everyone to be educated on the different types of heart disease. Coronary artery disease is the most common heart problem covered by the umbrella term "heart disease." When heart disease is talked about, most people think of coronary artery disease. Coronary arteries are the blood vessels of the heart and over time fat builds up in the arteries. Because of this, different things that pass through the blood vessels such as cells, proteins, and calcium can build up on artery walls. This can cause a blockage and thus cause heart problems such as a heart attack or heart failure. Arm numbness is a major symptom of not only coronary artery disease, but many different types of heart disease. Anyone experiencing unexplained arm numbness should see a physician as it could be a sign of heart problems. Those with a past history of heart problems should get immediate attention.
