Heart Disease is the leading killer among adults. Children and teenagers do get heart disease but it is very rare. There are those that have attracted heart disease genetically or have factors that increase these risks. These factors are usually caught at an early age and allow them to lead very normal lives.

One inherits heart disease from family members such as a Grandparent or mother and father, aunts and uncles. These factors have no cures but can be controlled with medication, diet and exercise. With education about their heart disease, these children can lead full productive lives.

One gets heart disease later in life as an adult. By teaching children and teenagers to live a healthier life style will eliminate their risk of some heart diseases.
There are three main ways to prevent heart disease. These should start in early childhood to reduce the chances of getting heart disease as an adult.
• Yearly checkups with their doctor
• Healthy diet and Lifestyle
• Exercise
“ Note” If children do not eat right and get plenty of exercise they can develop problems like high blood pressure and high cholesterol during childhood.
