Why Are Men at a Greater Risk for Heart Disease?

Its true that men get heart attacks early in their lives as compared to women. However, heart attacks are as common among men as they are among women.

In fact, coronary heart disease, the most leading cause of heart attacks, is making many women die in US just like men. 38% of women die after having a heart attack in the duration of an year contrary to 35 %of men. The chances of getting a second heart attack after suffering from the first are almost double for women . The statistics are 35% for women and 18% for men. Almost 20% of the females all over the world suffer from some kind of blood vessel disease. The number of women who die from heart attacks is twice the number of those who expire from fatal illnesses like cancer especially breast cancer. Even after, menopause when a woman has higher chances of suffering a heart attack her risk is not as high as a man. However, a woman at old age after 83 has great chances to expire after a heart attack within a time period of weeks. Black men have a higher probability of dying from a heart attack than black women.
