How Does High Blood Pressure Affect Heart Disease?

The blood pressure of a person which is measured as 120/80 is higher than the average blood pressure and it affects his chances of getting a heart attack directly why it is quite important that a person to go to a doctor for a regular measurement of his blood pressure. This is especially true when you are aged above 21. It should also be done if a prior high blood pressure condition. If high blood pressure exists with conditions like diabetes, smoking and obesity, chances of incidence of heart attacks are just multiplied.

There are many changes that you can introduce into your lifestyle to reduce the blood pressure. The first is to curb the number of cigarettes smoked and the amount of caffeine consumed.

The nicotine present in cigarettes makes your heart beat faster by constricting the blood vessels.  The worst part about having a high blood pressure is that it’s a silent killer and how its affecting the heart is not known. This implies that a person with a high blood pressure does not have any tangible symptoms and can get a cardiac arrest suddenly. Smoking is one of the most common reasons for getting a heart attack.
