What is Type of Heart Disease is IIa Hyperlipoproteinemia?

Ila Hyperlipoproteinemia is a generic disease that can be detected with blood work. Going undetected Type 11a Hyperlipoproteinemia can cause many things including Heart disease, stroke and coronary heart disease..

This disease is an deficiency of LDL receptors that leads to an increase level of low density lipoproteins that causes high cholesterol levels. Lipoproteins are responsible for pushing cholesterol thru the bloodstreams and high levels of these lipoproteins also means high levels of cholesterol.

Symptoms that usually occur are:

  • Bumps under the skin
  • Lumps on tendons - usually hands, feet and Achilles tendon
  • Yellowish patches around eyelids
  • High cholesterol levels
  • High LDL
  • Whitish edges of cornea
  • Xanthoma - Fatty deposits under the skin causing yellow bumps
  • Asymptomatic in early stages – no symptoms

Treatments really depend on the individual. If you have Type IIa Hyperlipoproteinemia; you will “definitely” have to change your lifestyle, your diet and take statins that will help to lower your bad cholesterol and raise your good cholesterol
