What is Idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis [IHSS]

Idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis is actually a very common disease that happens with the heart muscle. There are a few names that Idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis is known by such as: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. When you have this disease it can cause damage to your heart as the heart walls become thick. There are symptoms and treatments for this disease.

Symptoms for Idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis or Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy:

- heart murmur
- chest pains/discomfort
- breathlessness
- heart pounds
- shortness of breath
- fainting
- heart is enlarged
- asymptomatic
- dizziness
- left ventricle enlarges

- medications such as diuretics or beta blockers
- changes with your diet
- pacemaker
- surgical placement with your mitral valve
- removal of your septum by surgery

The causes of Idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis vary with each person but in most cases can still be treated.
