What is Small Vessel Disease? |
Small vessel disease is a condition that is also known as coronary micro vascular disease, and in some may refer to it as small vessel heart disease. This is a condition, in which the small arteries of the heart become narrowed. When the small vessel disease begins to show signs of its existence the signs and symptoms appear just as in other types of heart disease. The patient suffering from coronary micro vascular syndrome can have symptoms such as chest pain, like that of angina. This condition is usually found when testing is being done to check for blockages in the main arteries of the heart that are responsible for causing heart disease. When there is not a blockage present or very little narrowing and the symptoms still are present this is when it is often considered to be small vessel disease.
