Can Stress Be a Factor in Heart Disease?

There is high evidence now discovered that says that the association between stress and coronary heart disease is quite high. The stress can be caused due to several factors like job strain, individual personality of a person and social ostracism. Well, stress may alone not be responsible for a person getting a heart attack. It can lead to a heart attack if combined with conditions like smoking, high blood pressure, overeating and abnormal cholesterol levels.

Studies are also being conducted to find out how well therapies work to reduce the impact of stress on the incidence of cardiovascular disease. The results of studies that have been done to reduce the chances of occurrence of this disease after use of psychosocial therapies have given positive results. People who feel quite anxious after they have a heart attack should talk to a doctor to reduce the chances of another. Its not necessary that people suffering from stress can get a heart attack quite easily because different people emote to stress in different ways which determines their probabilities of a heart attack. Emotional stress like a fight with the spouse can also be a cause of the heart attack.
