What is the Ventricle? |
Ventricle of the heart is nothing but a chamber in the heart which collects blood from them atrium and pumps it out of the heart. A heart consists of four chambers that deal with the transportation of the blood within and outside the heart. The transportation is guided by the atrium and the ventricles. Atrium supplies blood back to heart while the ventricles pump the thus obtained blood to the other regions of the body. There are two ventricles. They are Right ventricle and the Left ventricle. The deoxygenated blood from the atrium enters the right ventricle. The right ventricle pumps this blood to the Lungs where the blood is oxygenated and impurities are removed. After this purification process, it is again transported to the heart through the left atrium. The left atrium delivers the blood to the left ventricle. The left ventricle in turn pumps the received blood to the entire body. This completes one cycle of the heart. The ventricles are made of thicker walls than that of the atrium. This is making them able to withstand very high pressure since it needs to pump the blood all through the body without any fall in the blood pressure.
